Registration Information 2017
The La Serena School of Data Science is targeted for senior undergraduate students (3rd through 6th year) and beginning (1st and 2nd year) graduate students in programs related to astronomy and "big data", including (but not limited to) astronomy, bioinformatics, computer science, statistics, and mathematics.
Registration is CLOSED for the 2017 School. We only have 30-40 seats for the 2017 School. We look forward to a strong demand for these seats, so "registration" consists of filling out the online application with information about the your background and qualifications.
Scholarship Requirements
Thanks to funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation as well as the Millennium Institute of Astrophysics (MAS) and CONICYT in Chile, scholarships will be available for most of the students selected from the U.S. and Chile. To qualify for a scholarship, students must be enrolled full time in an accredited university in either the U.S. or Chile, and provide a copy of their grades together with a letter of recommendation from a professor in their program of study. No explicit scholarship application is required, as all U.S. or Chilean applicants will automatically be considered as scholarship candidates.
The application deadline is April 30, 2017. Successful applicants will receive invitations in mid-July to participate in the School, which starts on 21 August 2017.
