LSSDS 2023 Registration Information

The La Serena School of Data Science is targeted for senior undergraduate students (3rd through 6th year) and beginning (1st and 2nd year) graduate students in programs in data-intensive disciplines that benefit from techniques from the data science and "big data" domains,  including (but not limited to) astronomy, bioinformatics, computer science, statistics, and mathematics.

The usual registration process consists of submitting an application through the web form linked below. In addition and on the same form, the applicant uploads a Letter of Intention and the name and email address of a recommender. We contact the recommender directly after. The applicant can request to be considered for a Full o Partial scholarships in the same application web form. Full scholarships will cover all school expenses, which are existent for either an online or in-person realization of the school.

The application process for the 2023 LSSDS is currently closed. Extended deadline was on April 9th (or April 16th only for members of CEDIA). 

Scholarship Requirements

Thanks to funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation as well as the Gemini/ANID funding, the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM, UChile), NIC-Chile, Centro de Informatica Medica y Telemedicina (CIMT), and REUNA scholarships will be available for most of the students selected from the U.S. and Chile. Additionally, students from Ecuadorian universities members of CEDIA are also eligible for full schollarships Moreover, the CMM has offered funding for students in Latin American institutions.

To qualify for a scholarship, students must be enrolled full time in an accredited university in either the U.S., Chile or Latin America and provide a copy of their grades together with a letter of recommendation from a professor in their program of study.  No explicit scholarship application is required, as all U.S., Chilean, Ecuadorian (CEDIA) and Latin American applicants will automatically be considered as scholarship candidates.
